After obtaining her degree in Medicine at one of the most prestigious universities in her native country (Venezuela), she trained as a specialist in Urology at the Complejo Asistencial Universitario de León, Spain, via MIR between 2008 and 2013.

In this centre, with extensive experience in laparoscopy, she developed a high level of training in this technique, introducing minimally invasive surgical programmes in the centres where she has worked and favouring patients in having postoperative periods with less pain and a faster recovery. Some examples include laparoscopic radical cystoprostatectomy to treat invasive bladder cancer, partial resection of malignant and benign kidney tumours, preserving the kidney instead of removing the entire organ, thus avoiding renal failure. Another of these innovative procedures is videoendoscopic inguinal lymphadenectomy to remove the affected lymph nodes in penile cancer and melanoma of the lower limbs, thus reducing local complications in these patients who are usually operated on openly.

Her training constantly continues by attending annually multiple courses and conferences as well as obtaining a Master’s degree in Urological Oncology and various university experts in this field.

Honorary Collaborator of the University of Oviedo since 2016, participates actively in the training of medical students and residents who do internships at the Urology department.

Is also author of many presentations and papers at national and international congresses and is an active member of the panel of the European Association of Urology Guidelines, which is the most prestigious entity in this speciality worldwide, developing through it her scientific and research activity with publications in high impact international journals.
